Tandoori Turkey Burgers

After a summer full of BBQs, one can get tired of plain ol hamburgers, but it really is the perfect meal for a hot summers’ night. I tried this little Indian twist to put more excitement back into the burger. Beware.. you will have Tandoori smell on your hands for weeks to come. I topped the burgers with Raiti, an indian version of Tzatiki.

Beautiful summer evening and a burg

  • 1 lb uncooked ground turkey
  • 1/4 cup dry breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 a red onion, minced
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 2 tbsp tandoori powder
  • 2 tbsp plain yogurt
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Buns and burger toppings

  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 1/2 cucumber, thinly chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, crushed
  • 1 tbsp chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 tsp cumin

1. Mix together breadcrumbs, onion, cumin, tandoori, yogurt, salt and pepper

2. Add in turkey and mix until combined. Heat the grill to medium-high heat

3. Gently form the mixture into patties and let sit in the fridge for 30 minutes

4. Grill the patties for 3 minutes per side. They will still look pink because of the tandoori spice

5. Combine the ingredients for the Raiti and serve with the burgers

Yummy patties
